For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans still reeling from 2007's awful computer-animated depiction of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael, redemption may be on its way: A new live-action TMNT film is slated for 2011.
According to Variety, the storyline of the forthcoming fifth Turtles feature will focus on the origins of your favorite heroes in a half-shell. Beyond that, details are sketchy, but the film is set to be produced by the same guy (Galen Walker) who produced the last one, along with Scott Mednick, who's produced or executive produced titles such as Superman Returns, Beerfest and 10,000 BC.
Fans will also recognize 2009 as the 25th anniversary of the Turtles' first appearance in comic-book form (May 5th, to be exact). To celebrate, the Empire State Building even went green yesterday—turtle green, that is. For all other "Shell-ebration" information, check out the official anniversary page.
