The Fiery Furnaces are Going Away in July

The Fiery Furnaces are Going Away in July

The Fiery Furnaces will drop their latest studio album, I'm Going Away, via Thrill Jockey Records on July 21.

This is the brother-sister collaboration's eighth studio album to date, and they'll be joined by longtime friends Jason Loewenstein on bass and Robert D'Amico on drums.

Eleanor and Matt Friedberger sum up the album thusly in a statement: "All rock music is a sort of dramatic music. And since the times are tough, it makes sense to have that 'drama' be something more like a version of Taxi than something like a version of Titanic. We like Taxi better than Titanic anyway."

We're thankful; the duo has had a tendency toward a kind of grand, Celine-Dion-singing-in-wind drama on previous albums. Here's hoping for some Danny DeVito spunk on this one. Or, something.
