Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot Members Embark on Discovery

We're feeling a little like Perez Hilton-- or that queen of online scoops, Gossip Girl herself-- because we have some major news to dish. According to Fader (who heard it from Transparent) Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot's Wes Miles have joined forces for a little side project called Discovery.

"Orange Shirt," one of the two songs circulating online so far, features some scorching lo-fi beats and lyrics that are, in the words of a certain obese hamster, "Awesome." The duo warbles through waves of synth, "sleep on the train to Tokyo / Google yourself when you get home..." If this is some kind of cruel joke like Strobe Light, Trent Reznor's Timbaland-produced album, we might die a little inside.

In other Vampire Weekend news, Entertainment Weekly reports that the Columbia alum are taking a break from recording their sophomore album, which they hope to release by next September.
