Despite mixed signals, Warner Bros. has confirmed that it plans to release A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas in November 2010, a third movie for a franchise many left for dead after Kal Penn took a full-time job in the Obama White House.
Mixed reviews aside, Harold and Kumar as characters have inspired widespread goodwill as stoner heroes, described by New Yorker film critic David Denby as “indomitable, ungovernable, and possibly immortal.” Most observers expect Penn’s involvement in the movie, and it’s hard to imagine Kumar played by another actor at this point, but it remains unclear how we will participate.
That said, a holiday Harold and Kumar movie sounds brilliant to us. Fingers crossed.
