Following its shuffle over to ABC last year, notorious hospital comedy Scrubs may be renewed by the network for a ninth season. But there's one little problem; most of the original cast members might be leaving.
The problem is that the show has catapulted all its stars into high demand. They're all just too busy with new projects. Creator Bill Lawrence is busy editing his ABC/ABC Studios pilot Cougar Town, starring Courtney Cox, though he's reportedly less hesitant than his core cast, none of whom have deals beyond the current eighth season.According to TV Guide, Zach Braff and Judy Reyes have said this is their final year on the show, although Braff might be open for occasional guest-star slots. Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn are all poised to star on pilots, which would get first priority if they get picked up.
This would leave a lonely Sarah Chalke as one of the few original, first-season members considering a return. However, Lawrence and ABC Studios might consider writing in the ninth season with a new core cast, comprised of the interns introduced in season eight, including Sonal Shah, Eliza Coupe, Betsy Beutler and Todd Bosley.

The aren't going to use Lee Thompson Young aka The Famous Jett Jackson?
I just seen him as an intern the other day!
"This would leave a lonely Sarah Chalke as one of the few original, first-season members considering a return."
This is only true if every one of the pilots mentioned gets picked up, and frankly, probably none of them will.
Lee Thompson Young is a terrible actor and should never attempt network comedy ever ever ever again.
oh please let this show just go away.
Oh please just let cranky old man die.
Uck! It'll turn into "Saved by the Bell: The New Class"...
Personally, I don't think I'll watch the show without Zach Braff, Donald Faison, etc. I only got into Scrubs about a year and a half ago, but even so, I couldn't see the show being the same without J.D. He's the main character, the majority of each episode is based around him. The show will not be the same, or half as funny, without the original cast members.
