Atlanta's Corndogorama Festival Announces 2009 Lineup

Chances are, the last time most of our readers thought about a corn dog was in the fifth grade, when the fried delicacy was considered a treat in a lineup of questionable cafeteria fare. But to music fans around Atlanta, the words "corn dog" conjure up warm memories of a different kind: the annual Corndogorama Music Festival, now in its 13th year.

Created in 1996 by Dave Railey, the East Atlanta event promises two days of a "carnival-like atmosphere with a twist." This year's mayhem (dubbed "CORN-DOG-O-RAMA MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009: YES, WE CORN!" by Railey) will include a corn dog-eating contest sponsored by none other than the World League of Competetive Eating, bobbing for beer, and a flip-flop race. Festival-goers should expect plenty of oil-dipped good eats and local artwork as well.

And, of course, let's not forget rock 'n' roll from some of the region's most notable acts. This year's lineup is slated to include the likes of Modern Skirts, Howlies, and Attractive Eighties Women (featuring Paste's associate editor Steve LaBate). Fans of neologism can check out Dropsonic or Graboids, while narcissists are encouraged to jam to Hip to Death or Club Awesome.

There's sure to be something for everyone, reagardless of their taste. This is assuming, of course, their taste includes a breaded hot dog.

Festival details:
Date: Saturday & Sunday, June 27-28, 2009
Times: 12:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Location: 470 Flat Shoals Avenue in the heart of the East Atlanta Village
Tickets: $15 in advance, $20 at the door
