Speculation over the theatrical prospects for James Cameron’s Avatar has begun to run so high that some IMAX theaters might book the movie for three months after its December release, up through the opening of Alice in Wonderland in early March.
As The Carpetbagger points out, that would be quite a honeymoon, especially given
that bona fide IMAX smashes like Star Trek sometimes only get a
two-week window.
Avatar, which is said to be the most complex 3D film ever made, will be
Cameron’s first fiction feature since Titanic. Sam Worthington and
Sigourney Weaver star in the movie, an original sci-fi epic that
Cameron also wrote.
