Despite worrisome signs, Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse has earned an unexpected renewal from Fox for a second season.
Separately, NBC announced that it plans to renew Chuck for a third
season after a surprisingly vigorous fan campaign to save it. NBC said
it decided to bring back the show because “the demand for Chuck that
came out of the online community, the critical community, and the
advertising base made us have to pick up that show. The other shows had
none of that attention or energy.”
The news leaked before and during the upfront presentations the
networks made to advertisers, which will continue all week. Other Fox
news included a renewal of Bones, which had been in limbo, and Lie to
Me. NBC canceled My Name is Earl and Medium but will bring back
Southland, the well-liked freshman cop series.
