Beastie Boys Call Hot Sauce Committee to Order

Agriculture Committee, Budget Committee or Hot Sauce Committee? Which would you rather listen to for an hour? We bet we can guess, especially if Mike D, Ad-Rock and MCA are heading it up.

The Beasties announced Monday night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that they plan to release a new album this September. The follow-up to 2007's The Mix-Up will be called Hot Sauce Committee, and really, isn't it about time one of those formed?

On the show, Fallon professed, "You're my favorite. I've seen you probably 15 times." To which Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz responded, "That's too many times."

The group talked to Fallon about the already-released deluxe reissue of 1992's Check Your Head, which the group placed 7" vinyl records from their own collection into randomly-selected releases, Willy Wonka-style.

The Beasties also spoke about their upcoming summer festival schedule (which includes stops at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits) and recording the new album on a submarine inside Paul Allen's yacht. Good acoustics, we presume.

In an October interview with Billboard, member Horovitz said the new record could be seen as "political," in a weird sort of way. "It's a lot of vocals, a lot of words--very wordy. And it's political, depending on what you call political. You know, if toilet talk and fart jokes are political, which they can be, in that sense yeah, very."
