Jeff Bridges and Justin Timberlake will play father and son in a new movie, The Open Road
, which finally picked up American distribution this week.
Variety reports that low-key distributor Anchor Bay will back the finished movie in limited
release this summer. It follows a man (Timberlake) who reconnects with
his estranged baseball star father (Bridges) at the behest of his dying
mother (Mary Steenburgen).
Timberlake’s acting career can’t necessarily be called a hit, but
he’s cultivated an admirable resume of roles outside of the usual
Hollywood protocol for pop stars. Aside from his gig in the Shrek movies, he’s twice played an army
veteran and has become a comedy regular, especially on Saturday Night
