Slumdog Millionaire Battles Twilight at MTV Movie Awards

It's almost time for MTV to break out those Golden Popcorn awards, and the race is close this year between Oscar-winner Slumdog Millionaire and vampire romance Twilight.

Each film is up for Best Movie, among other honors, and Slumdog leading man Dev Patel and Twilight star Robert Pattinson are contending for the Breakthrough Performance Male award. Joining them are Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) and Bobb'e J. Thompson (Role Models).

Vying for the Breakthrough Performance Female award are Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Freida Pinto of Slumdog and Miley Cyrus for Hannah Montana: The Movie. The contenders for Best Female Performance include Kate Winslet (The Reader), Angelina Jolie (Wanted), Anne Hathaway (Bride Wars) and Kristen Stewart (Twilight). And in the category of Best Male Performance, the nominees include Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder), Shia LaBeouf (Eagle Eye) and Zac Efron (HSM3).
