Ahead of his May 12 Lost Versus Live release (Caldo
Verde Records), Mark Kozelek has announced a geographically-limited
series of Sun Kil Moon shows at three modest West Coast venues and one
opposite-sized Washington state music festival. A full band will back
Kozelek's woebegone vocals.
No word on any new Sun
Kil Moon since 2008's April. But, as previously reported, Kozelek's
forthcoming live album will feature "Carry Me Ohio" and a SKM-styled "Tiny Cities Made of Ashes" (Modest Mouse) cover.
Discussing the record with
Delusions of Adequacy recently, Kozelek said: "It’s true that there’s
something happening live that you can’t capture
in the studio - but what’s difficult is getting a nice, balanced,
good-sounding live recording. To me, live shows are exclusive to that
audience, and that night, and just don’t translate well for multiple,
after-the-experience listens."
