About a year ago, we whet your appetite with news of a Monsters of Folk album. Said monsters (Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward and producer Mike Mogis) first announced their plans after their 2004 collaborative tour and are finally making good on their promise. Boasting the lyrical and musical skills behind Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket and She & Him, some of the most buzzed-about bands of recent years, Monsters of Folk is sure to be an impressive album.

Where Have All The Weird Girls Gone?…

This sounds awesome. but i didn't know that Conor Oberst was considered folk, well i guess he can do whatever genre he wants. is "Monsters of Folk" a compilation or are they starting a new band?
there is more than a hint of comedic irony in their calling themselves "monsters of folk," so i think that conor oberst and the rest are umbrella-ing themselves pretty tongue-in-cheek-ly.
also, i think it's less a compilation than a collaboration featuring their individual songs, but songs that were written especially for this project (but i'm not sure...?)
Thanks Paste for the cool post! I may have to research this and add my post.
I saw the show in Berkeley in 2004 and that was incredible so I cant wait to hear the album.
Is there a presale? Memory is not that great anymore.
Yeah, it's always great when they play California 4 times on tour but miss my state completely.
the reason is the state you live in, I suggest moving....
