It's barely been a couple years since the Avett Brothers released their much-lauded Emotionalism (with an new EP in the interim), and they're already putting the finishing touches on their next LP, I and Love and You. Maybe that kind of workmanlike output shouldn't be too surprising when your band is prone to snapping up kudos like crazy, not to mention appearing on the upcoming cover of a certain music magazine.
I and Love and You won't be hitting the streets until mid-August, but from the looks of the tracklist, it will be an album jam-packed with tenderness and lament. You know, the usual for the Brothers Avett:
1. I and Love and You
2. January Wedding
3. Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promise
4. And it Spread
5. The Perfect Space
6. Ten Thousand Words
7. Kick Drum Heart
8. Laundry Room
9. Ill with Want
10. Tin Man
11. Slight Figure of Speech
12. It Goes On and On
13. Incomplete and Insecure
And lest we (or love or you) forget, the Bros. also have a smattering of shows in the Northeast coming up this month:
11 - Washington, D.C. @ Lisner Auditorium
12 - New York, N.Y. @ Fillmore at Irving Plaza
13 - New York, N.Y. @ Fillmore at Irving Plaza
14 - Rochester, N.Y. @ Water Street Music Hall
16 - Pittsburgh, Pa. @ Carnegie Music Hall of Homestead
18 - Grand Rapids, Mich. @ Frederik Meljer Gardens & Sculpture Park
19 - Akron, Ohio @ Akron Civic Theatre
20 - Columbus, Ohio
Keep an eye on the band's homepage, as there'll be some exciting announcements about I and Love and You (out Aug. 11 on American Recordings) in the coming days and weeks.
