In the latest evidence that cancellation has become fleeting on television, Comedy Central plans to produce 13 new episodes of Futurama, the animated sci-fi comedy series originally axed by Fox in 2003.
The series, from Simpsons creator Matt Groening, first debuted in 1999.
Despite its cancellation, it continued to gain popularity in cable re-runs,
which culminated in the production of several direct-to-video films
that were released in the years after it went off the air. Fox had previously flirted with bringing the show back to life.
Comedy Central hasn't announced the move yet, but that's expected to happen soon.

I've rarely been so happy.
I am a huge Futurama fan, which is exactly why I don't think this is a good idea. Did anybody enjoy the straight-to-dvd movies? They were terrible.
