Wall Street 2 Details Leak

Details have emerged about Oliver Stone’s fast-tracked sequel to Wall Street, and they sound like they could go either way.

According to Nikki Finke, the movie will indeed star Shia LaBeouf as a young Wall Street trader on the eve of the international financial crisis. He’s engaged to the estranged daughter of Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), the disgraced financier from the original movie who has recently been released from prison. The movie is set in June 2008, several months before the federal bank bailout began; Gekko knows the end is coming, but no one will listen.

In the meantime, LaBeouf’s character will be fixated on revenge against a hedge-fund manager (possibly to be played by Javier Bardem) who he believes caused his Wall Street mentor to commit suicide. That leads him to Gekko, who helps him in return for reconnecting him with his daughter.

Finke also says many Wall Street types have offered to lend their expertise to the movie, which, if all goes as planned, could be in theaters as soon as February of next year.
