Gillian Welch, Felice Brothers, Justin Townes Earle, Old Crow Medicine Show Gear Up for Revue-Style Tour

What do you get when you combine a tour with the hot, sticky month of August, a chunk of dates in the Southeast, and a chunk of those dates at outdoor venues? A pretty miserable-sounding equation, until you factor in the foot-stomping, string-picking lineup that graces the roster of the Big Surprise Tour.

Like the A-Team of Americana, the lineup is a smorgasbord of Paste favorites: the Felice Brothers, Justin Townes Earl, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch. The group of artists will tour the East coast together, forgoing traditional concert format in favor of an old-fashioned revue style, haphazardly flowing on and off the stage, backing each other on their sets and performing material both new and old. The artists, who have toured with each other in the past, will even perform new collaborative songs they've written together.
