Regardless of whether the idea of hearing Homer Simpson's voice directing you on the road sounds like a fantasy or a nightmare, TomTom has made it a reality. The cartoon father figure's voice skin is now a $12.95 accessory to the manufacturer's GPS units. And make no mistake, according to TomTom's website, this is the original Homer voice. No impersonators here.
Homer offers words of encouragement through your GPS-aided drive in addition to basic directions, helpfully telling you, "You can hold your head up HIGH, because you are a GENIUS!" After telling you to take a turn, he gleefully adds, "Ahahaha! WOO-HOO!"
This isn't the first celebrity skin voice added to a GPS unit. Last year, Mio revealed an entire GPS device dedicated to the original Knight Rider television series, complete with the voice of KITT. And NavTones.com features voice skins for both TomTom and Garmin units, ranging from the sultry voice of Kim Cattrall to the rapid-fire shouts of Mr. T. Sample some of the voices here.

Have Homer Simpson reading out your GPS directions is all fine and dandy, but why not have a little fun and have Professor Frink read them instead?
I'm sure there's a more scientific (and insanely long) way of saying "Turn Left".
