As Iran's disputed elections have reiterated, the world often appears to be disconnected and in utter disarray. So it is somehow comforting to hear that there is at least one small thing many of us can agree upon. We love House. A lot.
By "a lot," we mean that the Fox drama about Dr. Gregory House was diagnosed the world's most-watched fiction television show in 2008. Eurodata TV Worldwide, a rating agency, found that the show garnered more than 81.8 million viewers in 66 different countries last year, out of a potential 1.6 billion television owners.
House, which stars British actor Hugh Laurie as a smart-ass doctor, trumped the numbers of the Most Watched TV Comedy category's winner, ABC's Desperate Housewives, which pulled in 65.3 million viewers, according to JapanToday.com.
