When we found out a few years back that there would be no happily-ever-after for The Unicorns
a single bulbous tear rolled down our collective cheek, hitting the ground and making a gentle noise audible only to our sadness. Oh, but then we got some good news! Frontman Nick Thorburn-aka-Nick Diamonds created another buzzworthy band
called Islands. And now the good news keeps coming. Islands has just wrapped up its third album, Vapours
, a self-proclaimed
"master(piece)" to be released Sept. 22 on Anti-
Fellow ex-Unicorn Jamie Thompson (AKA: J'aime Tambeur), who joined Thorburn on Islands' debut Return to the Sea but bowed out for follow-up Arm's Way, returns on Vapours. The album also boasts a star-studded production team. Chris Coady (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Greg Calbi (Antony and the Johnsons, Grizzly Bear, a veritable Who's Who of the music world) and Wolf Parade keyboardist Hadji Bakara all have had a hand in the project.
