Kevin Smith Casts Two More Dicks

Director Kevin Smith is jumping on the funny-cop-movie bandwagon, following in the wake of films like Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Hot Fuzz, and even Superbad, with his upcoming comedy release, A Couple of Dicks.

Smith already had Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan lined up to fill the role of the veteran L.A. cop duo, challenged with the task of tracking down a missing, valuable 1952 baseball card and the thief who stole it. Now, Seann William Scott, fresh off the set of Role Models, and Adam Brody have joined the cast. Brody will play a detective reluctant to join forces with Willis and Morgan, while Smith plays the "Shit Bandit," a thief named for his signature style of robbing houses. All signs point to typical Smith humor, along the lines of Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Clerks.

The title, of course, has drawn attention and even criticism from Warner Bros., who in March told Smith he would have to change the film's name to A Couple of Cops. However, recently the film has only been referred to as A Couple of Dicks, so it looks like Smith may win this battle just as he did in the controversy surrounding the title of Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

The film, written by Robb and Mark Cullen, will be released by Warner Bros. in February 2010.
