Kid Cudi, Asher Roth Pair Up for Summer Tour Dates
The latest space cadet of hip-hop, Kid Cudi, seems to be feeling awfully benevolent this summer. On the heels of a new mixtape, Dat Kid From Cleveland, that hit the interwebs in April, the silly and ever-dapper MC plans to drop his debut LP this August. To amp up for the release, you can catch the up-and-comer on a summer tour kicking off in June, complete with a handful of dates alongside hip-hop freshman classmate, Asher Roth.
Kid Cudi has earned a buzz about him with the belated radio hit "Day 'N Nite" (recorded back in March 2007) and its equally, if not more addictive, Crookers remix. His 2008 sample-laden mixtape A KiD Called CuDi, which included an impeccable Band of Horses nod that made us swoon, solidified his stance as fresh, witty voice on the rise.
The fact that he's got cheerleaders like Kanye West doesn't hurt, either. The two certainly have their similarities, namely their cross-genre appeal and flashy style, but it seems like Cudi has hopped on the Twitter train as of late, while Mr. West vehemently disapproves the micro-blogging service. Still, Cudi shares West's proclivity for the ANGRY ALL-CAPS RANT. You know what they say: like mentor, like protégé.
Cudi's debut, Man on the Moon: The Guardian, drops Aug. 25 on Motown/Universal, including potential collaborations with Ratatat and Band of Horses (!) amongst others.
