To ease those recession blues just a little, Live Nation announced that it will ditch service fees on Wednesdays this summer on lawn tickets with an initiative called "No Service Fee Wednesdays."
Live Nation touts the move as a benevolent one, and went as far to refer to itself as becoming "Free Nation" this summer, given its service-fee slashes.
While there are definite savings to be had, some have found the wording of the company's press release a tad hard to swallow. Idolator, for instance, pointed out that "free" doesn't account for the fact that "people will presumably have to pay face value for the tickets they're purchasing on Wednesdays (lol, words!)."
Still, fans should save around $9-$12 on tickets in the $20 to $25 range, according to the Associated Press. The savings begin today, and the 24-hour sales will continue every Wednesday throughout the summer. Artists of the 43 concerts to be affected by the promotion include Phish, Coldplay and Aerosmith.
