Martin Luther King Jr.'s son, Dexter King, has authorized the republishing of his late father's books, which have not been available for nearly 20 years. Publishing company Beacon Press will re-release these books on Jan. 18, 2010, three days before what would have been the civil rights leader's 80th birthday.
According to the BBC, the new editions will comprise King's lectures, including the 1958 "Stride Toward Freedom" and King's memoir of the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955, and each book will feature introductions by leading scholars.
Beacon Press' partnership with Dexter King is a move consistent with its past; the publishers are known for their books on civil and human rights.
