Oh, man... you guys do these too early... June's not over yet. I'm still waiting on my Sunn 0))), Placebo, Regina Spektor & Dream Theater albums to show up in the mail...

Dirty Projectors' "Bitte Orca." Best album of the year so far. I'm guessing nothing will top it the rest of the year.
I am still reeling from Kate having a Keith Urban record and a Kelly Pickler in her list. And the fact that she has my two favs (Low Anthem and Bonnie "Prince"), makes me question whether it is a sign of the apocalypse.
I'm in with Chris, I was quite thrown off by the Keith Urban in there. I haven't listened though so I can't judge too much. YET. As for my picks, Bitte Orca is wonderful. I am still waiting for something this year from Forest City Lovers, favorite Canadian export.
(Low Anthem also = fantastic)
kudo's on the inclusion of darcy james argue's great recording... steampunk big band will rule the 21st century and beyond.... don't recall seeing jon hassell's Last Night the Moon Came Dropping Its Clothes in the Street on any lists which is my other choice as gem of the year so far... frankly, i'd add hassell's fascinoma to the list of best of 2009. technically, it was released in 1999, but was 10 years ahead of its time
what about the new sountrack of our lives new lp communion.not only a great album but as a double with no filler.
Kudos to Steve LaBate for having Wilco and Sonic Youth, and Andy Whitman for having Antony and the Johnsons. I still don't get all the love for the Decemberists. Also surprised to see no mention at all of Phoenix, M. Ward, Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Metric. All of those will likely be in my top ten.
Following up on what mike said about Fascinoma, I think Last Night the Moon Came Dropping Its Clothes in the Street is the best record of 2019.
you should check out The Rural Alberta Advantage.
There is a band, just hit the ground, if Nirvana raised Radiohead and Mars volta's kid.

I am still waiting to see (uh, hear) that some of the great San Francisco artists appear in the "top" list. KFOG has done a really great job, like you all do at Paste, of introducing artists of significance and I've found that these are becoming some of the top artists, such as Alexis Harte, Dar Williams, and so many more. My vote would be for Alexis Harte (alexisharte.com).
All your choices are sound, but where's the love for Rhett Miller's outstanding self titled release? This CD has it all, longing, lust and a lullaby. Miller is a master craftsman at paring darker sentiment with an infectious, upbeat pop melody. Plus the dude can ROCK OUT! Seriously. You need to revisit this fine body of work and add it to your list.
What about this guy Pete Molinari. Amazing voice, authentic Sun Records sound. Truly great stuff.

Metric's, 'Fantasy" and Manchester Orchestra's, "Mean Everything To Nothing" - great records top to bottom. I'm also excited for the first full lengths from Alberta Cross and The Big Pink.
I think the halfway mark is a great idea. There's just too much good music out there for one list. The fact that Phoenix was mentioned just once is a shame to me. It's on my top cd list for the year for sure. A few you missed in my opinion:
David Bazan: Pedro the Lions lead singer's solo cd is so amazing it's almost criminal. Seriously, I listen to it all day, every day.
Dredg: The bay area art-rock group just came out with a new cd after 4 years and what a shocker, no one in the music world mentioned it. This is such a good cd from a great band that has never gotten their due.
fun.: The lead singer of the Format's new band is exactly that, just pure fun. Check em out.
O' Brother: A local Atlanta band that I happen to be great friends with. Great guys that make amazing music. They're going on tour with Manchester Orchestra soon and are on tour with John Nolan of Straylight Run now. Their new ep just came out and it sounds like Colour Revolt and Explosions in the Sky made sweet, sweet love.
Collective Soul's new cd called Rabbit by fans although the band calls it the 2nd self titled cd......good stuff!
Collective Souls new cd (2nd self titled) or known as Rabbit cause of the artwork. Its a great listen if you like anything Collective Soul! I rate it 4 out of 5 stars!
Peace!
Curse your Branches by David Bazan. Amazing album!!!
Bit too early for me, still a fair few months, Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon album comes out on the 15th Sept, looking foward to that as well as Muse's The Resistance out in the same week.
Bad Lieutenant's new album called "Never cry another tear".I had a chance to listen to this cd and it is very good. If you like great guitar playing, synths and great melodies you will love this. There is not one bad song on this album, from start to finish this cd rocks, with great New Order style moments in it. Bernard Sumner is a musical genius who has worked with New Order, Electronic and Joy division. If you like this cd Please give New order and Electronic a listen and you will love it, also listen to the first Album By a band called MONACO called Music for Pleasure which is also very good (New Order side project). It is very sad that New Order broke up, let's hope they patch up their differences and make another album. Give the Bad Lieutenant a chance and you will love it.
