The Roots Prep How I Got Over for Fall Release

It's only been a little more than a year since The Roots dropped their much-fĂȘted electro-experimental LP Rising Down, but Philly's finest (or second-finest, depending where you fall on egocentrism) have been hard at work in the interim. Their next album has just been given a name, How I Got Over, and an expected release month, Billboard reports.

Right from the horse's mouth (or in this case, drummer ?uestlove's Twitter feed,) is the skinny on this recent development:

"i'd like to announce in a well thought out effort to give you people the best product possible---and to give def jam proper set up time

The Roots will announce that WE are pushing back our 11th project How I Got Over (def jam/universal) until Oct. it shall be worth the wait.
"

"I Walk Alone," the album's first single, will be hitting radio (and inevitably, these very interwebs) within the next few days, and the band just finished recording a music video for the track as well. How I Got Over has an expected street date of October 2009, on Def Jam Recordings.
