It's only been a little more than a year since The Roots dropped their much-fĂȘted electro-experimental LP Rising Down, but Philly's finest (or second-finest, depending where you fall on egocentrism) have been hard at work in the interim. Their next album has just been given a name, How I Got Over, and an expected release month, Billboard reports.
Right from the horse's mouth (or in this case, drummer ?uestlove's Twitter feed,) is the skinny on this recent development:
"i'd like to announce in a well thought out effort to give you people the best product possible---and to give def jam proper set up time The Roots will announce that WE are pushing back our 11th project How I Got Over (def jam/universal) until Oct. it shall be worth the wait."
"I Walk Alone," the album's first single, will be hitting radio (and inevitably, these very interwebs) within the next few days, and the band just finished recording a music video for the track as well. How I Got Over has an expected street date of October 2009, on Def Jam Recordings.
