I love A.M. I think it just doesn't get heard much because it's older. It doesn't have the psyche factor either. It's my pick with the possible exception of this new one.
Came to Wilco as a massive Billy Bragg fan via Mermaid Avenue. I bought Being There on the back of that, and loved it. But Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is the masterpiece. I remember waiting for it to come out, hearing it had been put back, buying it when it was finally released and realising that I was listening to a band who were reaching new heights. My first thought was "this isn't alt country, it's alt Beatles", which I still think is a fair description.
