Is the Amazon Kindle not cutting it for you? Is your Sony Reader not getting, well, read? If so, lovers of the e-book, don't revert to (gasp!) those old-fashioned, tangible pieces of paper to read literary works; you have another option.
Barnes & Noble announced today that they're partnering with Plastic Logic Inc. to plan their own eReader device, one that will be similar to the Kindle, to emerge sometime next year. Along with the eReader, which will be the size of a sheet of notebook paper, B&N is touting its re-emergence into the digital book market with the "largest e-bookstore" in the world: more than 700,000 titles, according to LATimes.com, most of which are free public-domain books from Google.
But buyers of these B&N digital books beware: Kindles and Sony Readers won't be compatible with them. Turn to the future B&N eReader, or, alternatively, your iPhone, Blackberry or computer to check them out.
