Cat Ladies Documentary Premieres

Cat Ladies Documentary Premieres

Crazy cat ladies. They're a stereotype likely found in every town big and small, and many a cat lover has been labeled (or secretly feared becoming) one. But though the synopsis of following the stories of four different women who can be reasonably called "crazy cat ladies" may sound initially humorous, the documentary Cat Ladies exposes the somber side of overwhelming feline devotion.

The film, directed by Christie Callan-Jones, recently premiered at the Silverdocs Film Festival in Washington, D.C. But in spite of (or perhaps because of?) the typically snarky reactions to the crazy cat ladies of the world, the documentary focuses on the realities of the women's lives, including loneliness, addiction and the possibility of authority interference.
