At Comic-Con to promote the thriller The Book of Eli, Gary Oldman unexpectedly took a question about a sequel to The Dark Knight and told the audience this: “The next Batman is next year, so I think it is two years away. But you didn’t hear it from me.”
By that, presumably, he means the movie would film next year for a 2011 release. Warner Bros. declined to comment, and most reporters at Comic-Con met the suggestion with skepticism.
Oldman’s statement follows a handful of others by Batman co-stars, especially Michael Caine, about a potential sequel to The Dark Knight. As far as we can tell, they’re all speculative; director Christopher Nolan is currently at work on an original sci-fi flick and has yet to commit to making another movie.
The rumors have been relentless, though, with perhaps the most pervasive suggesting that Eddie Murphy would be brought on to play The Riddler. For now, rumors they remain.

I really hope that this isnt a joke, cuz ive been looking forward to batman 3 since i saw the dark knight. Id like to see Joesph-Gordon Levitt as the Joker, becuz of his resemblance to Heath. Id also like to see Johnny Depp as the Riddler, but I think that Nolan doesn't encourage star power, i mean look at Heath no1 thought he was gonna be the joker the only thing he was famous for was being a gay cowboy. I think that you have to give it a good name 2. If its called "the caped crusader" nobodies gonna wanna see that. I personally like "the dark knight returns", or "gotham".
