Aerosmith Lets Fans Become Guitar Heros As Opening Act

For its current summer tour, Aerosmith is giving two fans the opportunity to open each show playing a song from the Guitar Hero: Aerosmith video game. For some reason, we don't think Jack White will be entering the contest.

Fans have been encourage to submit videos to the Aerosmith Opening Act Contest of themselves playing a "killer air guitar using the Guitar Hero guitar controller OR shredding a wicked session of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith." Gnarly, Bro!

NY Daily News reports that 28-year-old Paul Cataldo Jr. has been announced the winner to open the Wantagh, N.Y. show at Jones Beach Theater. The crowd of 17,000 will watch as the Staten Island resident plunks away on the Aerosmith favorite, "Sweet Emotion."

“They haven’t said anything about multiple tunes," Sataldo said when asked if he thinks he'll get an encore. "But they’re going to have to drag me off that stage."
