Todd Phillips, director of The Hangover, has nabbed Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis to star in Due Date, a comedy about a man on a road trip to the birth of his first child.
Downey will play the man, and Galifianakis will be the trip’s unlikely shotgun. According to Variety, Phillips sold the movie as “a buddy comedy without the buddies.”
At $247 million in North American theaters alone, The Hangover is now the highest-grossing R-rated comedy on the books. It cost about $35 million to produce and perhaps about the same to market.
