Jay-Z has been in talks with a branch of Random House Publishing, Spiegel & Grau, to finalize a deal for a book, according to The New York Observer. The book will consist of explanations and stories behind the rapper's lyrics, though no publication date has been released yet.
Although Hova never writes down his lyrics and has never written a book before, in 2003, MTV reported that Jay-Z was writing an autobiography to be published by MTV Books. Black Book was supposed to coincide with his release of The Black Album, but this never came to fruition, and rumors circulated that the rapper pulled it because he felt it was too personal.
Recently, Kanye West broke the author-rapper mold as well. His book of Kanye-isms, Thank You and You're Welcome, is already available for purchase. Jay-Z also tapped West for help producing his newest album, The Blueprint III, to be released Sept. 11 on Roc Nation.
