Madonna Plans Greatest-Hits Celebration for September

Whether you love or loathe Madonna, you've gotta admit she has a business acumen and eye for pop culture that's made her one of its preeminent voices and faces. And given Madonna's expert mastery of her personal brand, it's easy to observe that she's got a pretty good handle on the whole self-promotion thing. At least, that's probably the reason behind the laudatory name of her just-announced upcoming greatest-hits collection: Celebration.

Touted as the ultimate compilation of Madonna songs, Celebration offers an overview of Madonna's career with remastered tracks curated by the songstress and her fans. Two new songs that were recently recorded in New York City will also debut on the album. "Celebration" is the album's eponymous first single, a track co-produced by Madonna and electronica wizard Paul Oakenfold that'll start hitting the airwaves on Aug. 3.

Also slated for release are a two-disc special edition of the album and a companion DVD containing the material girl's most famous music videos, and some unreleased video material. Celebration is out Sept. 29 in the U.S. (Sept. 28 everywhere else) on Warner Bros. Records.
