New Twilight Zone Movie on the Way

Warner Bros. and, randomly, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company have decided to greenlight a new film version of The Twilight Zone, the seminal sci-fi series that originally came to the screen in 1983.

The first movie, which featured segments directed by Steven Spielberg and Joe Dante, among others, was destroyed by critics and didn’t fare much better commercially. That film took the vignette approach, and though there’s no word on how this one will be structured, the studio hired a single writer, Rand Ravich, to pen the screenplay. (Ravich is most widely known as director of The Astronaut’s Wife, the little-seen if underrated Johnny Depp thriller that came four years before his Pirates craze.)

Variety says the project has been in development for at least a year but recently got the official go-ahead.
