Park The Van Records, home to artists like Dr. Dog, The Spinto Band and Pepi Ginsberg, has flared up the distress signal and is asking its supporters for help. In a posting on their website recently, Park The Van invites music lovers to help the label stay afloat in this tumultuous economy by making a purchase from their online store. They write, "We're assembling super limited edition handmade items, packages to help you dig deep into discovering all sorts of PTV classics, and prices that we hope you will see as generous and ultimately worth it."
The store is stocked with mix CDs handmade by Park The Van staff and mix-and-match packages of CDs, vinyls and shirts. And for $500, Park The Van will assemble the "Big Timin'/PTV Lovin' Booster Pack," which tops off a handful of albums and every CD that Park The Van has ever released with the opportunity for The High Strung's Josh Malerman to write supporters a song to appear on a Park The Van's Digital release We Love These People and They Love Us. And everyone who donates or makes a purchase from this list of special-edition merchandise will receive a previously unreleased song from Eagle Winged Palace and a grab-bag of surprise items. And if live music is more your style, you can grab tickets to Park The Van's summer tour, which will take Floating Action, Generationals, Golden Boots and Eagle Winged Palace on a jaunt throughout the West Coast later this month and into August.
