The White Stripes Release Trailer for Tour Documentary

Between working with his new supergroup, The Dead Weather, operating label Third Man Records, and serving on the Nashville Music Council, Jack White is approaching Broken Social Scene-levels of music-world monopoly these days. Now he can add one more line to his impressive resume: starring in a documentary of The White Stripes' wild 2007 Canadian tour.

The film, Under Great White Northern Lights, has been in the works since before the tour began. Directed by Emmett Malloy, it follows The White Stripes as they become the first band to play every Canadian province or territory in a single tour.

Under Great White Northern Lights will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 18. The trailer, which was released July 21, can be viewed at
