Two More Monsters of Folk Tracks Released

The Monsters of Folk have released two additional tracks on iTunes, in addition to last week's free MP3 "Say Please." The supergroup of the indie folker's dreams might be a tease, but we'll take what we can get while we're still a couple months away from the official album release on Sept. 22.

"The Sandman, The Brakeman, and Me" is a sweet slow-burning folk tune, with vocal harmonies. Of course, with three prominent musicians contributing vocals and three characters in the track's title, listeners will undoubtedly ascribe one to each. Oberst seems like a shoo-in for "The Brakeman."

"Dear God (Sincerely, M.O.F.)" is heavy on the snare and very different from any of the contributors' past work, whereas "The Sandman, The Brakeman, and Me" and "Say Please" fit nicely into the trio's individual repertoires.

You can buy the individual tracks on iTunes, or purchase all three as an iMix. Both tracks are streaming on MySpace as well. The Monsters begin their fall tour in October.
