It's no secret that we love Battlestar Galactica. So it's been a pretty great few days with the wealth of BSG news that's come to light lately. Just because one of our favorite television series has come to end doesn't mean the franchise will.
Universal must have taken a hint from the success of franchise reboot flicks Star Trek, Terminator: Salvation and GI Joe, because they've just enlisted X-Men director Bryan Singer to direct and produce a movie remake of the 1978 Battlestar Galactica TV series. Singer's last directorial outing was the ho-hum Valkyrie, but some recently-unearthed concept artwork from the aborted 2001 sequel movie makes it seem like he's got the right idea.
Fanboys everywhere had further reason to cheer with the news that funnyman Patton Oswalt will be starring in the (unrelated to the movie reboot) Caprica prequel TV series on Syfy. Oswalt will play a John Stewart-esque talkshow host named Baxter Sarno, which makes us hope that the BSG universe has some equivalent to the KFC Famous Bowl.
And to top it all off, we've still got that Edward James Olmos-directed prequel movie to anticipate.
