Best of What's Next 2009

Best of What's Next 2009
At Paste, we try to avoid simply hyping the latest flavor of the month. We want to highlight young bands, filmmakers, authors and designers we're still going to care about 10 years from now. Some of the artists profiled in our second-annual Best of What's Next issue are already starting to garner wider attention, while others have seemed like impossibly kept secrets until now. But we chose all of them on their merits, and we're confident that many will join the ranks of musicians like Josh Ritter, Bon Iver and Brandi Carlile and filmmakers like Jason Reitman and Noah Baumbach, whom we touted early in the magazine and who continue to create great art we love.

Check back here as we unveil our picks for the best new musicians, filmmakers and more all day today.
