Broken Social Scene Cover Joy Division for Time Traveler's Wife
You can now add Robert Schwentke's upcoming The Time Traveler's Wife to the list of major feature films that have tapped indie artists for their soundtracks. The novel-turned-romantic drama, which premieres this Friday, Aug. 14, not only boasts a Joy Division tune recorded by Canadian collective Broken Social Scene, but also features BSS as the wedding band in the film.
The tune, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," is just as despondent as you'd expect, with Kevin Drew's vocals draped heavily over crunchy drums and symphonic builds. The rest of the film score was composed by Mychael Danna, who also worked on the soundtrack for (500) Days of Summer.
