Eugene Mirman Preps New Album, Comedy Festival in Brooklyn

Eugene Mirman, everyone's favorite comedian/sketchy Flight of the Conchords landlord/occasional three-star general, is currently prepping the release of a brand-spankin'-new comedy album. Always a politically correct comedian, Mirman has titled his latest record God Is a Twelve-Year-Old Boy with Asperger’s. Hey, wait a second...

Set for release on Oct. 16 on Sub Pop, God Is... was recorded at Chicago's Lakeshore Theater in late 2008. This time around, Mirman sets his sights on Detroit's gentrifying bears, the online polls of Russia Today, and an unnamed-for-legal-reasons airline that rhymes with "Shmelta." The album boasts a radio play with comedians Kumail Nanjiani and Larry Murphy, the latter you might recognize as the man responsible for all the voices from Adult Swim's Assy McGee.

Mirman is also busy putting together his second annual Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival. Spanning September 17-20 at the Bell House in Brooklyn, Mirman has already amassed a pretty great lineup, including comedians John Hodgman, Kristen Schaal, Michael Showalter, Reggie Watts, Bobby Tisdale, Larry Murphy, and, of course, the Mirman himself. The festival is currently looking for super-helpful sponsors and poster designers, so if you either have lots of money or are a rock star graphic designer—we find the two are most often mutually exclusive—hit up Mirman at EugeneFestival@gmail.com.
