As of last month, all anyone really knew about the Dave Grohl/Josh Homme/John Paul Jones collaboration was that it was happening and that Grohl told Mojo in 2005 that the group "wouldn't suck." Finally, we know that the group has a name (Them Crooked Vultures), some decent social-networking skills and, potentially, a hush-hush gig coming up.
Them Crooked Vultures have been tweeting a bit and sprucing up pages on MySpace and Facebook (no music posted on either yet, though) in between recording in Los Angeles. (Oh, and they have their own website too, sparse as it may be.)
The group is also causing a stir due to a somewhat mysterious post about a midnight post-Lollapalooza show this Sunday, Aug. 9. The site features the Them Crooked Vultures logo, but few other details, save a warning in all caps (and some bold) about restrictions. No more than two tickets can be ordered on a single credit card, they can only be picked up at will-call and a government ID is necessary to claim them, folks. With these stringent limitations, seems like something pretty major might be going down.
