Kraftwerk to Release Eight-Disc Reissue Box Set

The German electronic kingpins of Kraftwerk pretty much invented modern dance music. Four decades of their mighty minimalism spawned techno, electronica, and every other computerized music genre on the continuum from bedroom dancing to all-night raves. And they perfected the freaky-band-uniform deal when Devo was just a glimmer in Mark Mothersbaugh's eye. Now, Kraftwerk's oeuvre is available in a career-spanning reissue box set of albums remastered by the band, titled 12345678: The Catalogue.

The CD-only boxset will feature eight reissued LPs in all: Autobahn, Radio-Activity, Trans-Europe Express, The Man Machine, Computer World, Techno Pop, remix compilation The Mix and Tour De France. Three of the albums (Computer World, Techno Pop and The Mix) can't be reissued as individual albums because of licensing issues, but the other five reissues will also be available in CD, vinyl and digital formats.

12345678: The Catalogue is out Oct. 6 on EMI.
