As we reported back in MayMachete, the incredibly-awesome trailer sandwiched in the intermission of Grindhouse, will become a reality. Now, the rumor mill is swirling, attaching some big names to the Robert Rodriguez project.

MTV.com recently reported (via Variety) that Lindsay Lohan has been confirmed for the movie, most likely playing the role as the senator's daughter. The Mean Girls star reported on her Twitter account, "something was made official today!!!!!!!!!" and then linked to the Machete page on IMDB.com.

According to Variety, Lohan will be joined with an eclectic and amazing supporting cast: "Danny Trejo is playing the title character and Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson and Jeff Fahey play supporting roles."

The trailer tells the story of a Mexican immigrant hired to kill a U.S. senator who is fighting illegal immigration. But the title character, played by Danny Trejo, is "set-up double crossed and left for dead," by his employers. Searching for revenge, Machete goes on a killing rampage with the help of his priest, played by Cheech Marin.

Check out the trailer and remember, "If you're going to hire Machete to kill the bad guy, you better make damn sure the bad guy isn't you":
