As we reported back in December
, Neil Finn assimilated a rather stellar lineup to dust off his 7 Worlds Collide project. The 2K9 edition features familiar faces from the 2001 album, like Johnny Marr (The Smiths, Modest Mouse) and Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway (Radiohead), along with some newbies, including Wilco's Jeff Tweedy, Pat Sansone, John Stirratt and Glenn Kotche, as well as KT Tunstall.
Five clips from the album, "Too Blue," "Learn To Crawl," "Hazel Black," "Black Silk Ribbon" and "The Ties That Bind Us," are streaming on the group's MySpace. The album was recorded during a three-week Christmas holiday in New Zealand, with proceeds going to Oxfam.
The double album, titled The Sun Came Out, will be released through Columbia Records in the UK on Aug. 31. Release dates for other territories are yet to be confirmed, but will be announced soon.
Radiohead fans will have the chance to actually hear what Phil Selway's voice sounds like, as he takes over lead vocals on "The Ties That Bind Us." “You Never Know,” from Wilco (The Album) shows up on the first disc, with Tweedy backed by the 7 Worlds Collide band.
