Icelandic musical curiosity Mugison is never content with the status quo, which is part of the reason that he featured in our 2008 Best of What's Next list. With last year's Mugiboogie securing his status as a genre-defying pop wizard, he's turned an eye towards breaking different conventions: namely, the idea that you can only do one show (or two, max) in a city in a given day. On Aug. 18, he's going to try his hand at breaking a world record by playing shows in all five boroughs of New York City in one day.
Mugison will be playing the five shows as part of a partnership to raise awareness for Amnesty International. Limited-edition event posters will be on sale at each show, and all proceeds will go to benefit AI in support of human rights advocacy worldwide.
You won't even have to search him out if you're in the city that never sleeps on Aug. 18; he'll be nigh-unavoidable. And the best part? All these shows are 100% free:
August 18
Staten Island - Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art @ 12:00pm
Queens - The Silent Barn @ 2:00pm
Bronx - Bronx River Art Center @ 5:00pm
Manhattan - City Winery @ 8:30pm
Brooklyn - Pete's Candy Store @ 11:00pm
