Norah Jones may have entered the music scene with her own words, but for her upcoming album, she had a bit of help from her friends.
The still-untitled album, slated for a November release, will feature songwriting collaborations from Okkervil River's Will Sheff and musician-turned-visual artist/perhaps columnist Ryan Adams.
"I'd been playing with the same musicians for a long time. We're all still friendly and I hope we play together again," Jones said in a statement, "but it felt like a good time to work with new people and experiment with different sounds."
But the changes fans will detect are not only in her words. Jones also enlisted producer Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Kings of Leon) to lead her through a mostly guitar-driven sound, backed by musicians who have worked with Beck, R.E.M. and Elvis Costello, amongst others.
