Oasis Splits: Noel and Liam Are Finally Sick of Each Other

Festivalgoers eager to see Oasis at Rock en Seine were privy to an event that (despite assurances to the contrary) everyone could see coming: the legendarily combative brothers Gallagher have finally had their fill, and Noel has quit.

And guess who's looking back in anger? The post by Noel on the Oasis website is terse and to-the-point: "It is with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."

The announcement on the festival website is even more illuminating (rough translation ahoy): "Following a dispute between the two brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, the group cancelled the concert that was supposed to end the first day. The entourage of the group informed us that the remainder of their tour was also cancelled. After their triumphant performance earlier in the day, Madness agreed to do another set to replace them. The festival will post a process for compensation tomorrow on its website."

So where does this leave Oasis? No one knows yet, but one thing is certain: there's going to be plenty of candles lit and 40s poured out to the tune of "Wonderwall" tonight.
