Once Producer Casts Snap, Begins Shooting

Producer of award-winning movie Once, Martina Niland, has just finished casting her next feature. Titled Snap, the movie will be the directorial debut for screenwriter Carmel Winters and will star Eileen Walsh (Nicholas Nickelby) and Aisling O'Sullivan. Snap is being filmed in the city of Cork in southern Ireland, and will be a psychological thriller about the complex dynamics of a troubled family. "It's about loving the unlovable," says Winters in a statement, "finding our way home to the rag and bone shop of the heart."

Snap will be the fourth feature-length that Niland has produced with Irish fimmakers Samson Films. Like Once, it will be funded in part by the Irish Film Board, which offers loans to aid Irish filmmakers in the development, production and distribution of both fiction and documentary films.
